We are sooooo lucky to be living these next months in the ranch house of the Sam Anderson family, in the added wing behind the original ranch house.

Well, as you can see, we have more space than the one room schoolhouse.  We are thinking we need a walkie talkie system to find each other!!  But it is also deceptive.  The grand staircase and tiled hall up to the bedrooms was also designed with radiant heat tile floor, and large sinks and drains in the floor so that calves who needed warming or tending could be brought directly in and cared for.  It all really begs accurate description- it is just that once again we find we have moved through the looking glass into an utterly new world.
We have watched coyote and elk from the kitchen windows, helped with the early arrival of the first calf, taken long walks up the Tom Miner Road, and visited and hosted Ginny for meals.  We have pretty much settled in to where and how we will live, and will head out to do errands in the real world tomorrow.
We are so thankful that Wendy and Julie watched over the Middletown house, opening cupboards under sinks and turning faucets on to a trickle while the power was out.  They report power is back on, heat is back on, and they have boosted thermostat up a little.  What a relief! Not much we can do from this distance!
